Wado Team in competition! Wanshu!

JKF Kanto Regional High School Karate Championships
June 6-8, 2008
Team: Yokohama Yokosuka High School Girl's Kata Team, from Kanagawa Prefecture
Kata: Wanshu (WadoRyu Renmei version)
Location: Fukushima City, Kanagawa Prefecture

They lost 5-0 in the 3rd round to Takushoku Daigaku Koryo High School from Chiba Prefecture, but they still got a Best 8 finish.
This is a pretty good result for a Wado-performing team.
They won the first round with Chinto and the second round with this Wanshu as as well.
Takushoku won this round with Chantanyara Kushanku and they went on to win the gold medal after 2 more rounds.

While this post might not be directly related to the internship, it is still a good Wado team kata to study for interns and the rest of us, showing there is hope for Wado kata in competition if done just right.

And yes, this team has its own unique 'arenjimento' (arrangement) that might not fly in a dan test even in their own style group, but it's still very interesting to see and the best result I have seen for Wado kata at a regional event.
